Our Chamber Rocks! And, that means that this year’s annual meeting will be like none you have been to in the past. We are throwing out the rule book in order to stage a grand year end celebration that you will not want to miss! So, mark your calendar for Thursday, October 6 at 6:30 pm at the CONVO.
Beverly Nix, Chair of the Board, announced this week that Bill Carter and Bob Eubanks will be our special guests at the event. Carter’s book, Get Carter, tells his unique life story from JFK’s assassination to working with the Rolling Stones. This excerpt from his website says it all: How do you pin a label on a man who has enjoyed as many careers as Bill Carter? Attorney, Secret Service agent, politician, lobbyist, security consultant for famous rock ‘n’ rollers, artist manager, television producer-they all fit, but they don’t begin to describe the man. Bill left his home in Rector, Arkansas immediately after graduating from high school, heading for a railroad job in St. Louis. His supervisor wanted to send him to college, but Bill joined the Air Force instead. After serving in the U.S. Air Force from 1953-57, he entered Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, eventually earning a B.S. degree in economics. He later attended law school at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.
Bob Eubanks the five-time Emmy Award winning Host of the Newlywed Game, was also concert producer for the Beatles, personal manager for Dolly Parton, Barbara Mandrell and the Everly Brothers.
Nix said, “We are so fortunate to have Bill Carter agree to speak at our annual meeting and bring with him his long-time friend Bob Eubanks.”
This will not be the routine banquet speech. This year features “A Conversation with Bill and Bob” in a setting much like a talk show stage. Carter and Eubanks will have a casual conversation about their impressive careers in the entertainment industry.
Another addition to this year’s event will be a VIP reception with Carter and Eubanks at the Cooper Alumni Center immediately prior to the annual meeting. Attendees at the annual meeting will also enjoy a served meal rather than the traditional buffet, unique dÉcor and dinner entertainment provided by a local band.
Awards for the Roy H. Jolly Volunteer, Betty T. Sloan Promotion, Ambassador of the Year, Young Professional of the Year, and Agri Farmer and Business Person will also be given.
