Electricity and Greenhouse Gas Reduction Workshop Slated

Arkansas Manufacturing Solutions (AMS) will host an electricity and greenhouse gas reduction workshop from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on March 31 at the Lake Point Conference Center in Russellville.

In 2008 the industrial sector was the largest contributor of greenhouse gases (GHGs) in the United States with electricity making up the largest portion of industrial GHG. The two part workshop will focus on reducing electricity use and greenhouse gas emissions.

Electric Use: The morning session will give an overview of energy conservation measures, calculating energy, electric demand, and cost savings.

Greenhouse Gas Emission: The afternoon session will address the common sources of greenhouse gas emissions, how to track emissions, the impact of electricity, and the complexities of greenhouse gas emissions.

The workshop instructor is Dr. Darin Nutter, a registered professional engineer in Arkansas and an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Arkansas. Dr. Nutter will address specific facility needs and will share his knowledge from conducting many industrial energy audits.

The workshop is sponsored by Energy Efficiency Arkansas. It is a partnership between the Arkansas Energy Office and Arkansas investor-owned electric and gas utilities.
