United Way of Northeast Arkansas is pleased to announce Carole Damron recently assumed the role of Executive Director. Carole replaces Wendy Kirk, who transferred to United Way of Birmingham, Alabama after serving the organization for almost two years.
Damron brings a wealth of non-profit management experience to United Way. She served the Girl Scouts of Crowley's Ridge Council for over 35 years, including five years as chief executive officer. She was director of many Girl Scout programs including marketing, public relations, fund development, and membership. She was appointed to serve on a variety of state level Girl Scout committees including the Arkansas Council Realignment Committee and the Arkansas Communications Committee. She also chaired the Arkansas Service Delivery Committee and served as the Communications Liaison for the State of Arkansas with the Girl Scouts Corporate Headquarters.
"I am honored to have been chosen as the Executive Director for United Way of Northeast Arkansas," said Damron. "Throughout Northeast Arkansas, I have been amazed at the extreme level of volunteerism in each community. Over and over again, we have seen that people truly respond to the needs of their neighbors, as well as helping total strangers in their time of crisis. I am also extremely grateful for those who see the need to examine the daily issues facing our families, friends and neighbors, and who are taking action to make long-term improvements.
"United Way of Northeast Arkansas is now investing in programs focusing on health, education and income, all of which will improve the lives of our citizens, by rallying volunteers to create lasting changes in community conditions. Many problems in our communities are getting worse, and there are a variety of factors which contribute to these issues. By identifying these pressing matters, agreeing on priorities, creating partnerships, developing change strategies, and activating needed resources, we can all play a part in improving the lives of countless citizens, not just for the short-term, but to create lasting changes in community conditions . . . certainly a powerful, positive investment in our future," she added.
United Way of Northeast Arkansas' mission is to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities. United Way serves eight counties including Clay, Craighead, Cross, Greene, Jackson, Lawrence, Poinsett, and Randolph and funds programs in the areas of education, income, and health.
